Abstract: This article discusses issues related to rail joints and butt joints, various ways of their construction and installation on railway tracks. The questions concerning side insulation, its manufacturing from textolite material, the reasons for the use of insulation in railway track structures, types of rail joints both according to the method of assembly and regarding the passage of current, as well as the design of the insulating joint are discussed.
