Abstract: L. S. Vygotsky (1896-1934) is a prominent psychologist and educator. Most of his researches concerned with the problems of development of the child. These issues were the subject of the pedology. It is the science about the child. Pedology spread in the Soviet Union in the 20-th – the first half of the 30-th of the twentieth century. L. S. Vygotsky enriched pedology by ideas about the mental and cultural-historical development of the child, about work with children, who have different deviations in development, and about the connection of pedology with psihotehnicks. Psychological and pedagogical ideas of scientists remain relevant for modern science, because the problems of human development are the subject of study of many sciences.
