Abstract: The article’s goal is to study the problem of translating abbreviations in the maritime domain. The researches chose to split all abbreviations into codified and non-codified. They suggest different strategies and approaches to unfolding abbreviations belonging to each of the groups, as well as outline approaches to developing required skills of specialists for their effective decoding by means of computer technologies.
