Abstract: The article is devoted to the study of the verbalization of the categories "male" and "female" in Spanish, which is experiencing a serious gender conflict. The gender situation in the Spanish linguoculture and the cognitive reasons that led to the formation of certain lexical features are analyzed. At the same time, a comparison is made with the Russian language in order to identify similarities and differences in the verbalization of gender categories.
