Abstract: This paper discusses the features of the teaching of history of science and technology for students engineering and technical specialties in Russia. Considered relevant and interesting questions for students: the main prevailing myths and misconceptions about various aspects the historical, scientific and technological development; specificity of scientific and technological forecasting; characteristics and patterns of development of scientific culture as an important factor of modernization. Studying these and other issues could expand the level of erudition and scientific horizon of future engineers and improve the quality of their training.
