Abstract: the article presents the basic concepts of quality assurance with specific application functions: quality of the management system, product requirements, product design, design documentation, procurement, production and maintenance, measurements and monitoring, objectives and tasks. Systems and a systematic approach to quality assurance are given and substantiated. The purpose of international standards ISO 9000 series is studied. Their trends in improvement and development are shown. The role of control in quality assurance is outlined. The article can be used by students and teachers of higher educational institutions, as well as in production in the field of quality management. The article is of interest to students of additional professional education in the field of business and management. The article examines the role of the leader of the enterprise team to ensure its effective activity in the production of demanded products, for which the authors have designated such a list of competencies that the leader - the head of the enterprise team should possess in order to be able to successfully fulfill the goals and objectives formulated before him, to ensure this very enterprise both the successful execution of production for consumers of demanded products, and to be able to answer for failure to fulfill the obligations assumed, only in such a union is it possible to guarantee the successful activity of the light industry enterprise of the regions of the Southern and North Caucasian Federal Districts on filling their markets with demanded and competitive products. The results of such studies confirmed the validity of the understanding that the head of the enterprise, endowed with power, should not consider these criteria as unacceptable, but a measure of responsibility to his team for the results of the activities of this very team.
