Abstract: National-state formations began to acquire features of real statehood, which in fact they had never before possessed. The large-scale process that covered the entire post-Soviet space led to the fact that tens of thousands of administrative borders, once a huge state, were declared as state ones. And the appearance of the former Soviet republics on the world political arena as independent entities sharply intensified the existing ones and caused many new territorial-ethnic claims and conflicts.

Key words: border, territory, state, disputed territories, transit network, roads, sections of borders, legitimacy, the issue of arranging state borders.
