Abstract: The article examines the Russian colonization of Turkestan, which began immediately after the conquest of this territory by Russia. Russian Russian peasants ' resettlement to the Turkestan region through the creation of predominantly Russian settlements was revealed to ensure the military and political dominance of Russia in the region and at the same time had its own local features. The article examines the relationship of Russian settlers with the local population, the causes of conflict situations. Based on the analysis of the problems that have arisen between the indigenous population of the region and Russian immigrants, the conclusion is made about the imperfection of the resettlement policy of the Russian administration, which consists in the absence of a regulatory framework and a clear resettlement plan.

Key words: politics, territory, conquest, people, peasants, resettlement, «Chernyaev variant», anti-colonialist, «great-power-chauvinistic ideology», «military-political domination».
