Abstract: Ways of improving mechanisms for management of social and economic development of the absheron economy rеgion of Azerbaijan is discussed in this article. The features of the region's development, its resources, and the main factors that seriously affect the level of social and economic development of the region are analyzed with this purpose. The main system principles of regional development of the region, their essence are considered. It was noted the importance in the development and implementation of mechanisms for managing the economic development of the region, take into account a number of principles - the system-innovation principle, the principle of synergistic efficiency and strategic reality, the principle of synchronization and coordination, the mobilization principle and so on. The essence of the principles of regional development of the context occurring in the social and economic processes of the region is revealed. Approximate stages and results of development and implementation of the program for sustainable development of the region are given and justified. The sequence of the six stages for the development and implementation of the sustainable development program with forecasting of the expected results is grounded. A number of proposals on modern problems and ways to improve the mechanisms for managing the socio-economic development of the Absheron economic region of Azerbaijan have been identified and given.
