Abstract: This article shows the synthesis of an oligomer by reacting ethylene glycol with dimethyl terephthalate. During operation, dimethyl terephthalate was obtained by the reaction of terephthalic acid with methanol in the presence of concentrated sulfuric acid. The resulting oligomer was studied by IR spectroscopic method. It was determined that the release of ethylene glycol increases from 4 to 8 hours, after which it decreases due to a decrease in the initial monomers. The separation of ethylene glycol with methanol takes about 6 hours. Studies indicate that the maximum product yield as a result of the interaction of dimethyl terephthalate with ethylene glycol is 87-88% of the theoretical calculation of the product yield. The optimal time to reach this indicator is 6 hours.
