Abstract: The first realistic novel “Utkan kunlar” (“Past days”) is compared typologically with Shakespeare’s “King Lear” tragedyin this article. The main attention is given to the storm scene in both works, and it is emphasized that the novel has risen to cosmic scale as Shakespe are’s one.
