Abstract: In this work, the type of the second-order partial differential equation is first determined, and it is reduced to the canonical form, and then the mixed problem for the wave equation is solved approximately by the method of separation of variables, the method of variational iterations, and the method of Adomian decomposition. All of these methods provide a sequence of functions that converges to an exact solution. In all cases, the same results were obtained, but the Adomian decomposition method was very simple and convenient.
