Abstract: The main source of energy for all natural processes in the earth's layer and in the atmosphere is sunlight falling on the earth's surface in the form of solar radiation. The sun is a ball of gas with a radius of 695,300 km, which will be 109 times the radius of the Earth with a radiation temperature of about 6,000 °C. The temperature inside the Sun reaches 40 million °C. The distances between the Earth and the environment are on average 1,496*108 km. The Earth and the atmosphere receive 1.3*1024 cal of heat from the Sun per year. This amount of heat is enough to melt a 35 m thick layer of ice at 0 °C.
Key words: Sun, Earth, solar energy, temperature, radiation, light, period.
