Abstract: The article highlights issues related to the work on literacy in Uzbekistan. The forms and methods used to perform this task are analyzed. The influence of Bolshevik ideology on the formation of public education in the Republic on the Soviet model and the course of work on the elimination of illiteracy are also considered.
