Abstract: The article examines the functional equivalents that are the type of variant. Theoretical views on the interpretation of functional equivalents in linguistics are presented and analyzed. In expressing the meanings of the verb ?????? [xastan] to ask, to beg, to demand, 18 verbs are used as alternatives to this verb, the places of use of each of them are given and analyzed by examples. ?????? [xastan] to express the meanings of the simple verb to ask, to beg, to demand, to divide the functional equivalents of this verb into six groups of meanings according to their meanings is offered.
