Abstract: Due to the growth of text data online the task of automatic text summarization attracts more and more interest. Despite recent success in this field, modern summarization methods still have their drawbacks, and one of them is how the resulting summaries aren’t always the most coherent. In this article the Rhetorical Structure Theory and the possibility of using it to overcome this problem are explored.
