Abstract: The article analyzes genre features of science fiction, fantasy, and “fantastika” in some short stories of an American author Ray Bradbury and an Uzbek writer Hojiakbar Shaykhov. It touches upon theoretical issues around the definition of the relevant terminology. It also comparatively analyzes some shorts stories of the authors, identifying common themes, and original features. Based on the analysis we put forward some theoretical conclusions for consideration.
