Abstract: The idea of this scientific article is to study the ancient beliefs, rituals and cults of the Karakalpaks associated with the veneration of the steppe eagle. It provides for the collection and scientific analysis of the collected materials in order to bring into the system and determine to a certain extent similar features of ritual among the peoples of the lower reaches of the Amu Darya, among the Turkic-speaking peoples outside the Khorezm oasis. This study is the first to analyze the historical and ethnographic aspects of the origins, forms and stages of evolution of pre-Islamic and Islamic religious beliefs (totemism, trade cult, animal spirits patrons), as well as the process of interaction of different cultural traditions in a heterogeneous ethnic environment.
Key words: Beliefs, fertility cult, rites, customs, traditions.
